We are so lucky to be living in a world of modern conveniences and multi-choices of entertainment. We are living fine but what are we living for?

That’s the big question. We have homes, enough to eat, and some leisure time to enjoy life, so why aren’t we satisfied? We believe in a God and hope this Source of higher intelligence knows what’s being played out on our planet. But what are we supposed to be doing in the meantime? Our world is such a mess…and we are just one in a crowd of billions of people.

I sat looking out of an upstairs window and viewed my world below. These thoughts drifted through my mind like the ribbon of morning cloud passing gently over the landscape. In early morning quiet time I sometimes play a game to “hear” what God might want to communicate to me. Randomly, I open up a small book of The Message version of the Bible to see what shows up upon the page. Today the words were almost audible to me:

One_in_a_crowd_and_paranoid____by_gonzonl“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.”

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand.”  Matthew 5:13-15

So we will stand out in a crowd. We are supposed be bold with our beliefs. Our values will shine out so that people notice. What’s a bowl of popcorn without salt? Really, black and white photography is so boring.

No matter where we live, or what culture we live in, we want to stand up for higher principles and get noticed. We are the salt seasoning on a bland menu. God-colour! Were supposed to colour God on the landscape of our realities. We are supposed to be…well, just different.

I think our belief systems can really set us apart from the crowd. We can actually change the world simply by how we treat others!

Excerpt from The Celestial Proposal: Our Invitation to Join the God Kind,

Chapter 10, page 201:

“This one simple standard seems only fair and logical, doesn’t it? If we follow a personal code to treat others, as we would like to be treated ourselves, then we have what is called integrity. We can walk tall and have self-respect. Integrity is something no one can take away from us. Can we even begin to envision a society where all people follow this one law continually? What would it be like? There would be no murder, no muggings, no rape or robbery, no false accusations, no cheating in business or marriage, no faulty merchandise, no dangerous or unhealthy products, no controlling corporate monopolies, not even one person lying to another. There would be no prejudices, no legal battles, no tyranny, or oppression of any member of any society.

What a world we would have to live in!”

Does this make sense? Does it resonate with you too?
