imagesI am in a chrysalis state. I think you’re in one too! “What in the world is a chrysalis state,” you ask? It’s a simple existence with potential for a miraculous transformation. Nature is full of creatures that go through a metamorphosis of some sort. For small little green caterpillars it comes after a lifetime of eating green leaves. That seems like a meaningless life cycle that some of us can relate to. At the end of life the caterpillar ties itself up by spinning a cocoon around itself. Then it hides inside this womb until with perfect timing, it emerges from its hard outer case as the beautiful butterfly!

I believe one day I’m going to emerge into something much more beautiful too. Who wants to get old and weak? Yet, it’s necessary to end this existence so we can transcend and fly around effortlessly where ever we want, just like those colorful winged creatures, the butterflies.

Think of it. If our bodies are only the hard outer cases that contain the real spiritual essence of ourselves, guess what? They are supposed to wear out! They have to weaken to crack open to free us for flight in the magical realm of spirit. It reminds me of a saying:

Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely, in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “holy sh*t, what a ride!” Mavis Leyrer

ButterflyonHandSo, all this talk about taking care of our physical form is for enjoying a healthy life this time around. Yet, the gradual decay of our body is natural too. If you ever want to soar across the sky like a butterfly, your clay container – it has to go! The trick is to wear it out with intent and grace!

Straight from the big black book:

But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?” How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. I Corinthians 15:35  NIV Bible
