“Do I want to activate my faith as a source of power? You bet! So I visualize what I want to happen. I believe it’s possible, especially after I ask God to help me achieve it. But still nothing happens.

What is blocking my faith?

FEAR! Yes, fear is a huge invisible stumbling block. After all, some metaphysical miraculous thing happening in your life can be a little scary! Fear stops us from activating faith just like doubt. See part 4 in the Faith to Create Series. We think we believe in the power of God to act in our lives; but then a little doubt or a little fear creeps in and shatters our faith into ineffectual little pieces.

What is fear, anyway? FEAR is an acronym!

Actually what I fear hasn’t even happened yet! It’s only the projection of negative thoughts in my mind. Whether it is fear of the consequences, fear of failure, or even fear of being laughed at, I know this emotion stops me from manifesting any miracles.

Here’s a very old example:

A temple leader pleaded with Jesus to heal his dying daughter, while his close friends ridiculed him. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, “Don’t be afraid; just believe....” He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him.

What if others laugh at me and my outrageous claims of faith? But Jesus went ahead with words, belief and action.

After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” [“Little girl, I say to you, get up!”] Immediately the girl stood up and walked around…. (Mark 5:35–42)

The girl’s parents quieted their fear of death for their daughter. They were not afraid to put all their friends out of the house. When they did that, their belief in the supernatural conquered their fear.

Here’s another definition. Fear is a lack of faith in the possible good things about to happen by a God who cares for us. Worrying about something is just a degree of the same thing! Fear is actually the acceptance of a negative power having authority over us instead.

“Well, I’m not afraid. I just want God to help me with this,” you say. But wait, how would your life change if your prayers were answered? You’d be living a different kind of life. Be careful what you pray for. You might just get what you ask for!

So here are my three keys to get rid of fear:

(1) Pierce it with Light. Visualize what you desire in the best possible light! Don’t hide your faith. Let other people see it! Only scary movies and haunted houses are draped in shadows.

(2) Feel God’s presence inside. God will speak assurances to you because he loves you! Once I lived 100 miles from the nearest small town, in the middle of the Canadian wilderness and when I opened up the Bible this is what God told me:

Fotosearch_k10149770I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, “You are my servant”; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:9–10)

(3) Get hardwired to the God Source. You aren’t doing this alone. So let your heart be filled with joy. You’re co-creating something good with God!

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
