Up-Against-a-Brick-WallSometimes reality sucks. It slams you up against a brick wall and you’re stuck there. Life as you dreamed it seems far, far away. Should you just settle for what is?

Around midnight one foggy evening, I tried to connect with the presence of God, as I stood on the edge of a bluff overlooking the Columbia River far below. Clouds covered the gorge and leveled themselves so that it seemed as though I could step out and walk upon the surface. My life also lay before me like a vast journey of undulating ups-and-downs, some joys yes, but lots of heartaches. Did I even want to play the game?

He called it a November love affair. And that’s what it was, for when they met they were both over 70 years old and had already lived long full lives. Fifteen years later on Mom’s 90th birthday, my dear stepfather sang a love song to her. Continue reading

If religion is a turn off for you, here’s a new perspective!

Cosmos overlooking Earth

Believers know that God comes from heaven. We pray the “Our Father, who art in heaven” prayer. All temples, churches, steeples in the world point to the heavens. Even enlightenment reaches upward. Earth does not seem to be the home of our God. Besides, who would want to worship a god from just our planet? ….

Statue in the Rain

(I want to be…) Drenched in Spirit

(Open letter to a friend) Hi dear,

»Question #101

It sounds like you’re asking me what I think, so here goes: Your reasoning and the questions you asked were exactly why I wrote the book! The mechanics of utilizing power from believing in God/Jesus Christ was beyond me too. “Yah, OK, he died for me. He’s supposed to save me but what is he saving me from? Maybe he lives in me, whatever that means, but how does that change anything?”

When we translate one key word in “Christianese” into plain old English it clarifies things! We talk about Jesus Christ, but we have to realize that the word Christ is NOT his last name. It’s more like his nickname! According to any bible concordance and dictionary, Christ means “the anointed or the anointing”. The word, anoint means to daub with oil or smear on a powerful substance. Jesus is called The Christ because he was anointed with power from a celestial realm. All his friends saw that he had something different about him. So much so, that they also called him the Son of God.

The word christen is used today when we christen a person with a new name of notable character, or when we break a bottle of champagne over the bow of a ship to christen its maiden voyage.

So, when you start to read the timeless verses in the New Testament, try substituting the word Christ with the one anointed with power or the powerful anointing when you come across the word Christ. It’s pretty neat. IF CHRIST IS IN YOU then an anointing from a celestial realm is in you. If Christ lives in us, we are sent out with metaphysical power! Whew!

Hey, that came out good. If you don’t mind, I think I’ll put it on my blog! I’ll try to answer your other questions soon.

Love you dear.

PS. Here’s a fascinating passage!  Colossians 1:26-28

…the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.
